Fill out an Adoption Application

Douglas came to us after we were informed of a hoarding situation in rural South Carolina. His owner was in a nursing home and the 18+ dogs were living in the house alone with trash and waste. Douglas and his brother had escaped through a hole in the wall and were missing for a few weeks. He finally showed up and we sent a volunteer to rescue both of them. You would never know that Douglas’ life has been so difficult because he is so sweet and loving! He wants to be your best friend and constant companion and will follow you everywhere. He’s doing well walking on a leash and likes to go for car rides. Douglas has only had rare accidents in the house but does prefer to use pee pads. He also goes potty in his fenced yard.  He is still establishing his potty routines. He is very smart and will most likely learn to go potty on the leash with practice.   Right now, Douglas sleeps in a dog bed or on a chair.  He’s  always happy but does get a little scared with loud noises. He currently lives with three small dogs and gets along very well with them. He is afraid of larger dogs. He has done well with older children, around 10 to 12 years old, but has not been tested with very young kids or cats.  He roams the house freely now and does well. He does not like being in the crate and gets very anxious.
 

Douglas is looking for his forever home where he will be loved and spoiled. He will come with all his vet records, microchip, leash, and collar.  An approved application, home visit, and adoption donation of $250 required
