Let us officially introduce Petie!
Petie was found abandoned at a school in the freezing cold and rain by a good Samaritan who reached out on social media looking for help. One of our fosters picked up this poor guy and immediately took him in. He was so happy to be inside and have a warm bed and good food. Petie was a MESS. :( Poor guy was severely emaciated, had open wounds and sores on his body and was very defeated but in just a few days he was wagging his tail and looking and feeling better. We got him to the vet and started treatment for all his ailments. He was full of parasites, ear infections, heartworm positive and had injuries on his legs and a "happy tail" which bleeds when wagging it. We treated all of those ailments and Petie was on his way to healthy! He settled in a permanent foster home and every day became more confident and healthy.
Petie is a mellow boy for being so young and will reel you in with those sweet green eyes. He loves meeting new people! He is a bubbly guy and seems to like everything, peanut butter, car rides, belly rubs, you name it!
He is in a foster home with two other female dogs and he has adjusted to playing and sharing with them rather well but is always monitored closely at this time. He has not been around cats. Petie is not vocal but can get whiny when he wants to be fed or needs to go to the bathroom.
He enjoys chew toys and squeak toys. He loves walks and play time. He is crate trained and housebroken. He does need to go out as soon as he is uncreated and shortly after he drinks. He gets training at meal time in his foster home and his doing very well with impulse control and waiting for his food. He will "sit", "give paw", and "crate" on his own. He is very food motivated.
His ideal home would be someone who has experience with the breed and who is willing to take things slow and continue to put forth the training into helping him learn and grow. He does not need a fenced yard as long as he gets daily walks.
Petie is completely vetted, neutered, chipped, dewormed, and received his heartworm treatment. He will only need a Proheart in 5 months which doubles as a preventative and costs around $50-60 dollars.
Petie is located in Myrtle Beach, SC. Approved application, home visit, and adoption fee of $250 required.
