 Trooper was brought in as a stray to the county shelter and was on borrowed time  when we rescued him. Trooper came to us with an injured back leg. After a visit with the vet, it was determined that he had been shot at some point in his past and his ankle was shattered beyond repair and needed to be amputated.He needed expensive surgery to remove the leg which was causing him a lot of pain and discomfort. 

Trooper has adjusted well to losing the leg and you wouldn’t even know he is missing it!  We believe Trooper is an American Staffordshire terrier.. He weighs 66 lbs and is approx 2-3 years old. He is house trained and will go to the door when he needs to go out. Trooper is crate trained, but does need to be “bribed” with treats to go into his crate.  Trooper loves meeting new people and is a prefect gentleman with kids. Trooper’s true love is food!   Trooper is a very vocal dog and, while kind of funny, we are working on teaching him it’s not polite to “demand” food or attention. We have been working on “sit” and he is improving every day . We believe Trooper would do fine as an only dog or  in a home with another dog. He does need help getting in and out of the car but he gets around fine otherwise and being a "tripod" does not bother him at all! 

 Trooper is Heartworm positive and he has started his treatment. He only needs a proheart in 5 months which doubles as a preventative and costs around 70.00.  He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and microchipped. Approved application, home visit, and adoption donation of $250 required.
