Meet Sweetheart (aka – Sweetie)!  This girl was brought to the shelter in Georgetown as a stray.  She is a mixed breed, weighing about 41 pounds.  The shelter estimated her age to be around 4 years old, but our vet thinks she’s a little younger….and her energy level would support that!!!!  Sweetheart has been spayed and is up to date on vaccinations and is heartworm negative.  When she was brought to the shelter, she had some skin issues that have been addressed. Her hair has grown in nicely in the patches she had lost due to the condition.  She has beautiful, thick, white, short, hair, but her best asset are her cute ears covered with black spots.  She has become quite popular in the neighborhood, often getting comments about her ears or “what a good-looking dog she is.”

Sweetie loves being outside and going on multiple daily walks/runs.  She is high energy and requires exercise.  She walks well on the leash.  Some of the things that excite her are other dogs and humans.  She gets along with dogs and loves attention from people.  She just wants to play, and we have been working on her jumping up and pulling if we approach or get approached by either.  During walks, her ears perk up when she hears other dogs barking from afar, but she usually stays focused on the walk or run.  She has barked only a few times since she’s been with her foster parents.  She knows sit but could benefit from learning a few more commands.  She is a fast learner and food motivated, which helps in teaching her new things. She loves tennis balls and chew toys/bones, but they need to be the indestructible kind, or they won't last long.  Sweetheart would love a fenced in yard where she could run around and chase tennis balls.  Her favorite toy is a Kong with peanut butter, which she is rewarded with each night when going in her crate.  She has learned to like the crate, with the help of the Kong of course, and sleeps in it every night without a peep.

Sweetie loves to play with other dogs, but because of her high energy, would probably do best with a dog of like size.  She is in a home with two small dogs and wants to play with them, but her energy level is more than they are used to, so they tend to shy away.  She hasn’t been around children other than passing them on walks, but she always seems happy to see them.

Sweetie is very curious and has been known to chew up a few things that she deemed to be hers. Items that are interesting to her have to be put out of reach and her attention has to be redirected to what is hers until she learns the home. 

Sweatheart is fully vetted, chipped, and received a 6 month heartworm preventative and comes with 1-2 Nextguard for flea preventative which also helped with her skin issue. She comes with all vet records and leash and collar. Myrtle Beach,
