Cheerios was a stray who was taken to HCAC in September with severe injuries which required his rear right leg to be amputated. We saw this sweet boy and knew that we had to save him.

Cheerios is now neutered, heartworm negative, on heartworm and flea prevention, (received a 6-month Proheart injection) and just finished a round of antibiotics and allergy meds for an issue with his paws which were very red and irritated when first picked up from the shelter.  Cheerios is 1–2-year-old sweetheart who is a total cuddle bug. His leg amputation has not slowed him down in the slightest. He still loves to run, jump and play. He loves all people, dogs and even tries to play with the dog friendly cat in his foster home. He will listen when told to leave her alone.  He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He takes treats softly. He does love to play tug of war, and tries to do so with his leash, but after a training session with our professional training, our foster and Cheerios are learning to correct the behavior

Cheerios can get a little mouthy or nip when he wants to play as he is still a puppy who has never been taught but he is learning (with a few yelps from his foster mama in puppy language), and he is already doing that less

He knows sit, and after one day is getting "down". He goes right to his crate to eat. He does have separation anxiety, so someone, or a family who is home more often than not would be ideal. He wants to be with his person as he is a Velcro dog.

Cheerios is crate trained.  His foster mom takes him out regularly and he does his business outside. He did have a few accidents when he first came to us but that is normal when dogs are in a new environment and learning what is expected of them. Someone will have to be consistent with his training.

Cheerios is very smart, and while he is still a puppy and learning basic manners, he is picking them up quickly.

Probably best with older kids as he can be nippy, mouthy when he wants to play.

He is 39 lbs and does bark sometimes in his crate.

Adoption donation is $200.00
