Say hello to Ross!

Ross called a chicken coop his home along with his siblings before we were called to rescue them. Unfortunately, two of the siblings were never found as they were running loose on a property. The three we took went into foster care with PLP and we are so thankful that we were called to help.

Ross had a lot to learn about living in a house but luckily, he is an intelligent guy and caught on quickly.
Ross is a calm puppy and a good listener.   He sleeps in his crate and is quiet all night. During the daytime, he can be alone in his crate up to two hours.

Ross is good with other small dogs in his foster home.

Ross enjoys playing with similar sized dogs and he is submissive to everyone. He has a wonderful disposition and the only time he has shown fear was when exiting his crate/cage at the vet’s office after his neuter.   He does have very minor fear at times, but this is expected to resolve over time.

Ross hasn’t met a cat yet, but he shows no prey drive. It’s guessed that Ross might be fearful of cats.

Ross may be scared of loud toddlers and any kids, should be mindful of how to treat a dog. He did bite a vet tech during a vet visit. He was very scared.

With Ross’s long torso, owners will need to be mindful of his back and may want to invest in stairs or ramps to avoid future issues. (If a new dachshund owner please research IVDD)

Ross is a snuggler and loves to cuddle.  He enjoys a fenced yard. He’s had little experience on a leash, but in time he will enjoy long walks.  This is something a new parent will need to work on.

Ross loves to run, play with chew toys, and dig!  He doesn’t want to share his personal hollow bone. We split the three boys up because they were getting in scuffles and probably were exhibiting litter mate syndrome. Now that he is neutered it may be better but we don't know if they will ever want to share certain bones/food and that is ok.

Ross likes to dine alone. He currently dines on Blue Buffalo puppy food. He likes to eat his wet food in his crate.

He’s pretty quiet for his breed; however, he barks when a stranger enters the home. He does have the typical dachshund bark so something to be aware of.  Ross continues to work on meeting new people.

Ross is still a puppy. He is still working on house manners. He is also still learning what to chew on around the house. Therefore, Ross should not be left unattended.  He’s a good traveler in the car. He has not been around large dogs, but they may scare him.

Ross is 10 lbs. and 6 months old.

Ross is a great puppy and loves giving kisses.

Ross is located in the Myrtle Beach, SC area.

Approved application, reference check and home visit required.

Adoption donation of $350.00
