Sadie

Sadie traveled to her new home In Maryland several days after she was adopted and soon fell ill. She was taken to a vet where they thought at first she may have ingested something that was causing a blockage. All the usual tests, x-rays, etc. was given and they held off on surgery thinking it may be something else. Sadie was moved to an animal hospital when things weren't getting better and she seemed to be getting septic. Sadie had blood transfusions, pain meds, fluids, and went to a different hospital to see an internal medicine specialist where she was given a 50/50 chance of survival.  Her blood was not coagulating, and she was getting sick also.
Her new parents were extremely heartbroken and even though they had only adopted her five days prior, they did everything they could for their new baby. She was already family and they loved her dearly. Today after several transfusions, Sadie became unresponsive, and her family was called to say goodbye.

Look up into the sky tonight and find the brightest star, that is our Sadie shining down on us. She is up there with the other PLP pups, Willow, Jack, Copper, and Hercules who we also lost this year.
Thank you all and We LOVE YOU Sadie.  Run Free at the Bridge and know we will never forget you!
Thank you, Amy and Jennifer, for doing everything you could for her. That means so much!

Mr Peanut

We lost sweet Mr Peanut Friday, January 28, 2022.He passed away peacefully in his sleep in his amazing foster moms arms.

We were asked to take Peanut into rescue right before Christmas when his “owner” dropped off the 16 year old at the county shelter to be euthanized because he was old. His face and neck were swollen and he couldn’t walk well. The shelter vet thought he had some ivdd going on but we found out when he went to our vet he had some infected teeth. So we put him on antibiotics and good food and in no time at all he was running around and “talking” He loved his foster family and foster siblings.
He had surgery earlier in week (after blood work) to remove those teeth and neuter him. Our vet said he did great but he didn’t eat afterwards and was groggy .(normal)
My heart and everyone else’s at plp is completely shattered but we take comfort in the fact that he had a month of love and happiness.

Peanut had the best foster family I could ever ask for with Karen Hilbourn and my heart hurts for her . Hugs!
When I spoke to our vet Friday evening he said 99% of surgeries go well for seniors but we have to take the risk to avoid other problems .
Maybe Peanut was so happy where he was and it was just his time
Love you Peanut like my own. We will never forget you.
In memory of Peanut we saved another chi in his honor who was dumped in a ditch with some puppies last week.
Rescue lifts you up one minute and sucks the life out of you the next…. But we keep on keeping on.

Swilly

Rest In Peace Swilley. We are sorry humans failed you but happy we were able to rescue you from life on a chain and find you a real home for a while.
We got you from a free pets' page where you were once a stray in rural area. You were covered in fleas, hw pos and had skin issues and starved. You transformed into a beautiful boy, and we are forever grateful to be part of your journey.
Love you forever sweet boy. :(

Princess

Rip Princess!
We rescued Princess in 2016 from the Bladen shelter after a video of her shaking in the shelter started circulating. She had been banished to living outside for the previous two years and was in bad shape.  Her ordeal had her completely terrified of thunderstorms and she always had food issues from being starved and had to eat separately from the other 10 dogs in the home. Her amazing foster parents, turned adopters,  took the best care of her.
She recently began having heart problems and went to heaven to be with her mom. She was around 20 years old!
We will see you again one day sweet Princess . We will always love and remember you.

Mr Wille

Rip Mr Wille.  We were blessed to rescue you in 2015 and give you the life you deserved!
You will always be in our hearts. Your family misses you dearly.
