Hi my name is Gordon, and I am a gentle giant. I am some sort of hound mix but unlike a lot of hounds, I have manners. One look into my soulful eyes and you will fall in love. I am a big guy ( just look at the size of my mug!) I am 60 pounds after gaining 20 lbs since coming to rescue. I was found living under a boat that had been abandoned in a field. I was so thin, weak and shut down that the vet said I should be put to sleep. But with my sweet demeanor I quickly became a shelter favorite and they were rooting for me. Peace, Love, and Paws saw something special in me, rescued me, and soon I became my foster mom’s favorite too.
I am quiet. I do not bark often, but my size is impressive so if I am with you, you will feel safe. I need minimal exercise (couch please). My favorite pastimes are belly rubs and sitting in the fresh air. I am a bit jumpy but not aggressive at all. I am afraid of thunderstorms and i take cbd that helps. I do love being petted but if you go to hug me, I do cower a bit. I love all people and other dogs. I would be fine as an only pet or with others. I was cat tested and did not pay attention to them. I am crate trained but my foster mom says that I am such a good boy I do not really even need one when she is gone. I do not mind when you leave me alone but am always happy to see you when you come back. I enjoy a fenced in yard but it is not required. I am not the easiest to get into the car ( I am working on that) but once I am in the car I do enjoy a car ride. I walk well on a leash as well.
Gordon came to us starved and did a little resource guarding in the beginning but we have not witnessed any lately. We suggest giving treats/chews that can be eaten and be gone. He has been in boarding/training for a few weeks now and is very laid back and chill. He can be a little stubborn occasionally but he is food motivated. He knows his commands and loves his walks and daily massages. He likes to be outside a lot and likes his person to just be near and chill with him. Gordon is up to date on all vaccines and preventatives, microchipped, and neutered. He is an older gentleman and is taking supplements for stiff joints and we use a paw balm on his pads to help with allergies. We recommend a premium food for Gordon.
Please consider being my family. I am waiting for you.
