Shy Brindle Girl

Hercules

Our Hércules fell ill last week and we didn’t hesitate getting him into the vet.  Dr called saying it looked like he had possibly ingested something so he was giving him fluids and charcoal.
We had just sent his X-rays and bloodwork to a specialist in Wilmington to get the double knee surgery he needed to be pain free. Hércules  passed away during the night and we still are not sure what caused his death. He was 6 years old.
We are all shocked and heartbroken.
Hércules joined Peace, Love and Paws, Inc.. several weeks ago . He was taken into the vet to be euthanized by his owners because he needed very expensive knee surgery. The vet asked if a rescue was a possibility and they said euthanasia or rescue and we were contacted. We immediately said we would take him and we located a great foster home soon after. :)  It was discovered after he arrived that both knees needed surgery and he was also very overweight so we had him on a restricted diet so he could lose weight before starting his surgeries. (He was 153 lbs!) He also had some serious allergies going on that we were trying to get under control.
Hercules had lost 14 lbs and we were ready to schedule his consult with the ortho specialist in Wilmington.
I’m so sorry Hércules. Very grateful that you spent your last month with us and in a loving foster home with amazing people.
I am devastated that we couldn’t get you healthy, pain free and adopted.. We are comforted by the fact you were not euthanized by your family and we were blessed to be able to meet you, try to help you, and love you.
We love you forever big teddy bear!
If you look up in the sky tonight, find the brightest star; that’s  our sweet boy shining down.
You will always be part of our Plp family sweet Hércules.

Willow

Today we say goodbye to our sweet girl Willow.
Willow joined PLP last March as an emaciated stray with ailments galore. She was heartworm positive, covered in fleas , full of parasites, gastro issues, urine incontinent , mobility problems , masses and skin allergies.
Over the last 15 months she has lived the good life with her amazing foster mom, Joan Brooks who stepped up to be a fospice mom immediately.
We have done our very best to give this once homeless girl the best food, vet care and life possible since she joined us.
Please light a candle and say a prayer as our sweet lady crosses the Rainbow bridge today.
We love you Willow !!! I’m so glad you have been a part of Peace, Love and Paws, Inc.

Rico

RIP Rico 9-26-2021

Rico was surrendered in Summerville to a friend of one of our volunteers. His ears were full of nastiness and he was skin and bones. She never told us he had seizures. We found that out the hard way AFTER he was adopted, but his mom Vicki handled it like a champ. He was on meds the rest of his life. He was adopted in 2016. He lived the life of a KING. He had bodyguards (his siblings were Rottweilers) and lived in a palace with a yacht at his disposal. His people took the best care of him and showered him with love.
You were loved and will be missed
