Sweet little Starling has had quite the adventure this year!
We came to know this little 22lb girl at the first of January when she and her two siblings were turned into a North Carolina rural shelter. Their owner had died and a relative brought them in. They were so scared and confused! We were asked if we could help and we found fosters for the three.
Starling and her brother, Moonbeam were both heartworm positive but he was very sick and lethargic. Hours after he settled into his foster home he quietly passed away. We were all heartbroken!
While Starling was going thru her heartworm treatment, her sister, Skylar was adopted. That left sweet Starling.
When we received an application for Starling from Texas we thought it was a mistake. We soon found out it was not
The application was approved and the adopter wanted to fly here to get Starling. Something just "clicked" and she was the one they wanted to add to their family! We were a little leery at first but soon realized Starling had hit the doggy lotto!
Tuesday her dreams came true as her new dad flew from Texas to Charleston, where Starling and her foster mom, Tara met him. After several hours of getting to know one another, Starling and her new dad, Rusty flew FIRST CLASS together back to Texas. (She rode shotgun in a carrier and had her own ticket!) I hope she asked for snacks and champagne!
The nonstop flight was no problem for our little laid back girl and she has been settling in nicely into her new home in the Lone Star state. Her family loves her already and she is now known as Mila. She has a doggy sister, a big house, and huge yard.
Starling, we LOVE you! You GO GIRL! From Columbus county NC to flying first class to a family who fell in love with you the moment they saw you and went the extra mile to get you!!
Our hearts are full and we can only wish this fate on every shelter dog.
Thank you so much Tara M for always stepping up to foster the underdog; the shelter dogs no one wants; the sick ones, the black ones. You are such an angel!
THIS IS WHY RESCUE MATTERS!! Please, adopt; don't shop! Congrats Rusty, family and Starling! Have a wonderful life!!
