In October our director was contacted about a tiny 5 lb puppy who was found in a ditch in Columbus Co. She was taken straight to a vet by animal control but had to have a rescue asap to pick her up and take over her vetting. She could NOT return to the shelter in her condition. Of course PLP stepped up to take this little baby. She had a broken jaw, open wounds, and a hole in her skull with maggots crawling on her. We were worried that the vet would suggest euthanasia but with us on the way they gave her meds and we picked her up the next day. She had weekly vet visits until she was "out of the woods". She was so weak she could barely lift her head and had to be spoon fed.
Over the next two months little Lovisa (meaning fighter) recovered from her injuries and turned into a beautiful, sweet, healthy puppy. Lots of vet visits, food and love and she was a new girl.
The line of applicants was long and it was such a hard decision to choose the perfect family. She is very special to us!
Sandra and her son had fostered for us last year for a short time and had met Lovisa at the current foster's home. She was finishing up her chemo and Lovisa brought joy back into her life.
We made it official over the weekend and now the little abandoned puppy has a forever family of her own.
Thank you Candice, Oakland, and Penny for all of your help with this little girl. ðð»
Thank you to everyone who donated to her care and thank you Grand Strand Animal Hospital for taking the best care of our little fighter!
Thank you to the team behind the scenes at PLP as well who spend hours and hours working on applications.
Congratulations Sandra, son and Lovisa!! We can't wait to watch our little angel grow up and live happily ever after!!
THIS is why rescue matters.
