Happy New Year and Happy New Life to Apollo, now Scrappy Doo who has found his forever home!
Apollo came to us three weeks ago from a high kill shelter in North Carolina.
We boarded Apollo at the vet for a week so he could get "the works" and help dogs from the "list" buy some time. He then made his way to a foster home here.
A couple was visiting family here at the beach over the holidays and saw Apollo on Facebook and fell in love with him. They had lost their dog, Clydesdale in 2024 and missed having a dog in their home.
The couple waited patiently while we processed their application and made sure Apollo would have the best home all the way in Des Moines, Iowa!
He travels well so we didn't have to worry about the long car ride and his mom bought him an air tag for the trip.
Apollo and his family, Angela and Jeremy arrived home tonight. He went from the beach to snow and already loves it!
I truly believe our late dogs send us new dogs to help mend our broken hearts. Clydesdale sent Apollo at just the right place and right time.
Thanks to everyone who had a part on Apollo's journey.
Have a great new life with your awesome family, Scrappy Doo!!
Archie found himself living in a crowded, loud, rural shelter.
Day in and day night, it was the same. They rarely get out of their prison cells as there are few volunteers. A puppy with no one to play with, no one to teach him the way, no warm bed or belly rubs.
People walk by and occasionally a dog leaves; some go to rescue, some get adopted. The unlucky ones get walked to the back room. ð¢
After two months in his "cell", Archie's number came up. A puppy at only around ten months; how could this be? He was scheduled to be euthanized. (See pic) This is the way the shelter system works in many places.
Luckily, for Archie, he had a few people in his corner. I, the director of PLP had my eye on him. I couldn't believe someone hadn't snagged him up. His body language showed he was scared, but he was so handsome and needed a second chance. He was a BABY!
We made a plea for a foster, and someone stepped up! (thank you Bailey)
Archie made the trip from North Carolina, and he them got to spend his first Christmas in a home.
His time in foster care left an impression on his foster family. He became best buds with everyone and fit in so perfectly that they decided to make him a forever part of the family!
Archie will never be alone and scared again! Look at his big, beautiful family! woohoo
Someone stepping up to foster led to Archie getting the life he deserves.
Congratulations Archie and family. We are so thankful and happy for you all! Please keep us updated as we all fell in love with him!
Have a wonderful life!
Congrats to Alexandra who found her family a few weeks ago.
Alex came into a rural shelter starving, emaciated, and full of parasites. After living at the shelter a few weeks we offered to take her in. She turned into a beautiful healthy girl after some good food and vet care:
In the midst of excitement no photos were taken at adoption but we are happy she found her family and hopefully we get some updates and pics of this sweet girl enjoying her new life. Thank you to all who played a part in little Alex’s journey!
Happy Adoption Day to little Alice... finally!Alice and her sister Hazel came to us at the beginning of February from a hoarding situation in North Carolina. There had been 15 little dogs all living outside in filth and were surrendered to a rural shelter when their owner was hospitalized. They were so dirty each had to be bathed many times to get the funk off of them.
Haze was adopted 2 months ago and Alice had lots of interest but Alice needed a special home.
Janice was searching for a little dog and applied weeks ago. She had a setback with her dog's health and had to wait to meet little Alice but over the weekend they finally made it happen and sweet little Alice joined her forever family! yay!
Thanks to everyone who had a part in Alice's journey! From transporting, to fostering, to taking her to adoption events!
Alice's life has changed so much from what it was before and we are blessed to be a part of her journey!
Thank you Janice for being patient and adopting!
Have a great life Alice! We hope to get lots of updates!
