Blossom

Just over a year ago, sweet Blossom and her sister, Tia entered the county shelter when their owner was incarcerated. They were not picked up upon owner's release, so we were called, and they joined PLP.
The girls were both long overdue for vet care. Blossom needed to be spayed and had some skin issues that had been untreated.  Tia received a dental and was soon adopted. (they were not bonded)
After a month in our care, Blossom was adopted, but sadly, was returned just after two months by no fault of her own. The adopter didn't want to deal with her skin issues, so once again, Blossom was homeless.
Blossom is a fun little dog. It's not her fault she has itchy skin. Her foster mom gave her weekly oatmeal baths and we tried different foods along with cytopoint (for allergies) injections every six months, which seemed to help.
We assume the reason Blossom hasn't had much interest, was the possibility of vet bills, and we get that, although we seemed to manage it.  It definitely didn't stop her! She is super active and happy. She has been with her foster mom for the last 8.5 months.
Last week a nice man applied to adopt, and when he and Blossom met, they both hit it off!
Bob has adopted seniors in the past, some with skin problems, so he was not at all fazed by any possible future vet bills.
Blossom and her new Dad have been getting to know each other and all is going great. Bob has friends at the small dog park he knows from visits with his last dog, so now he takes Blossom and she is having fun too!  woohoo!
Congrats to Blossom for finding her person! It has been a year since she joined us the first time!
We don't give up on our dogs, no matter how long it takes, or what they need.
Thank you, Megan for all your help with Blossom, fostering, baths and everything in between. Hopefully she will come visit.
BIG THANKS to your new Dad, for adopting a senior dog who sometimes needs a little extra TLC! You Rock Bob!
Have a great life together!

Boo Boo

Happy Gotcha Day Boo-boo kitty!
The first of our Halloween kitties to be adopted and it was love at first sight. 👏
Thank you new family for adopting!
Thank you Joanne for fostering Boo-boo. ❤ï¸Â

Blossom

Congrats to our little Blossom who has found her forever family!
Blossom came to us at the beginning of September. She had found herself at the county shelter after her owner had been housed nearby for a short time. When the owner was released he/she did not pick up Blossom or her doggy friend, Tia. (Who is still looking for a family)
Both girls needed some serious vet care but we soon got them the care they needed and they started feeling much better very soon.
Paul recently lost his wife and then his dog, Hoppie.   He came to see Blossom in her foster home and immediately filled out the application.
Blossom now is the queen of the house and has a huge yard to run and play in.
Congrats Blossom and Paul! May you have a wonderful life together!
Thank you Megan for fostering our little pistol.

Beamer

Happy Gotcha Day Beamer!!
Beamer came to us from a nearby shelter as a mangey little guy. He needed us and we needed him! It took just over a month to transform the little sick guy to the handsome fella we knew he was! He didn't let his appearance get him down and was always happy and grateful to be with us and in a foster home.
Last week our sweet fella found his forever family. He now has a big back yard and a doggy sibling to play with. His new parents and very loving and patient and Beamer is going to have a wonderful life!
Thank you foster family and adopters!
This is why RESCUE matters! He could not have been adopted in that condition but he is now healthy and happy!
We love you little guy!
Adopt: don't shop!

Baby

Back in January, one of our shelter partners asked if we could take a little small hound girl named Baby. We had an open foster family, so we said YES. We sent a volunteer to get Baby and a kitten, and we instantly knew she was about as sweet as sweet could be when she and the kitten were instant friends.
Baby had never lived inside before. Everything was new to her; leash walking, housetraining, and sleeping indoors! The resident dog, Blaze and she soon became best friends and were inseparable.
When we told people Baby needed a little help with house training, they seemed to shy away, even though that is what good pet parents are supposed to do.
We knew the best family was out there somewhere and last week we found them! A retired couple from Southport applied for Baby and they let us know that patience and training were all part of owning a dog. They have a little dog, Mimi who has some issues and thought adding a submissive pup to the household would help with her anxiety.
They instantly loved Baby upon meeting her and Baby made herself at home, using the doggy door and settling in with her new sister.
Even though she went for walks daily, her new parents realized Baby needed a playmate and missed Blaze. There just happened to be a Brittany spaniel being fostered in their town who was up for adoption, so they adopted her this week too!
Now Baby has a playmate named Talia and Mimi has two friends!
Thank you, Nicole, for fostering this sweet girl. It's not always easy in the beginning with dogs who have never lived indoors! You are amazing.
Thank you to Baby's new family for being so kind and patient and adopting our sweet girl!
Happy life sweet Baby!! We love you!!
