Lilo

Happy Gotcha Day Lilo!!
Lilo came to us last December a very scared little girl. She had been turned into a North Carolina shelter with her sister after her mom had been paid a visit by animal control. Her sister had skin problems which appeared to be a flea allergy. The owner was supposed to get the dogs to the vet but never did so they were surrendered.
They were terrified in the shelter and needed a rescue immediately so we stepped up and they came to Myrtle beach and went into a foster home. It took a little while for Lilo to learn to trust new people but we gave her plenty of time and also got her the vet care she needed.
The Landrau family had applied for a puppy in December and had just missed out. After thinking it over they decided they wanted an older dog and they instantly fell in love with Lilo.
Lilo joined her new family over the weekend and will be spoiled and pampered from here on out. No more neglect or being afraid.
Thank you Megan for fostering this sweet girl!
Thank you Landrau family for adopting and not shopping!
Congrats Lilo! Have a wonderful life!

Louie

Congrats to Louie (right) who found his brother from another mother, along with his new mom and dad today!!
Thank you Kirk family for welcoming a face only a mother could love into your home!! just kidding.. we love you Louie!
Louie came to us earlier this month when his family decided to move to a state that didn’t accept dogs....(joke) but we wanted him! He’s been busy having his vetting updated and today Mr Louie was so excited to have a twin brother.
Thank you Kim and Oakland for your help with Louie.
Have a great life Louie ! You hit the doggy jackpot!
Thank you Kirk family for adopting a second dog thru plp!

Lovisa

In October our director was contacted about a tiny 5 lb puppy who was found in a ditch in Columbus Co. She was taken straight to a vet by animal control but had to have a rescue asap to pick her up and take over her vetting. She could NOT return to the shelter in her condition. Of course PLP stepped up to take this little baby. She had a broken jaw, open wounds, and a hole in her skull with maggots crawling on her.  We were worried that the vet would suggest euthanasia but with us on the way they gave her meds and we picked her up the next day. She had weekly vet visits until she was "out of the woods". She was so weak she could barely lift her head and had to be spoon fed.
Over the next two months little Lovisa (meaning fighter) recovered from her injuries and turned into a beautiful, sweet, healthy puppy. Lots of vet visits, food and love and she was a new girl.
The line of applicants was long and it was such a hard decision to choose the perfect family.  She is very special to us!
Sandra and her son had fostered for us last year for a short time and had met Lovisa at the current foster's home. She was finishing up her chemo and Lovisa brought joy back into her life.
We made it official over the weekend and now the little abandoned puppy has a forever family of her own.
Thank you Candice, Oakland, and Penny for all of your help with this little girl. 🙏🏻
Thank you to everyone who donated to her care and thank you Grand Strand Animal Hospital for taking the best care of our little fighter!
Thank you to the team behind the scenes at PLP as well who spend hours and hours working on applications.
Congratulations Sandra, son and Lovisa!! We can't wait to watch our little angel grow up and live happily ever after!!
THIS is why rescue matters.

Laney

Happy Gotcha Day Laney!
We rescued Laney at the end of September from a North Carolina rural shelter . She had been on the run for sometime and had recently had puppies.   We treated the heartworms and finished her vetting and she turned into a different dog.
Laney found her forever home over the weekend and will be the center of her new families world in Pawleys island.
Thank you Penny, Wendy and Oakland for your help with this little lady!
Have a wonderful life Laney!!

Linus

At the beginning of September we saw the most heartbreaking photo of a broken down, sick, tired, beagle in a rural North Carolina shelter. It was obvious he had been on his own for quite some time.
HIs fur was missing, He had skin infections and masses. He was heartworm positive and full of parasites. His teeth were infected and his tail was nothing but bone! He was a HOT MESS. We wasted no time finding a foster home and he made his way to Myrtle Beach. Linus went straight to the groomer where he had 3 baths to remove the stink and funk he was covered in. Thank you Bubbles & Fluff!
It took about 7 weeks to get this boy on the mend. He had 3 surgeries. We treated his heartworms, skin infections and got rid of the nasty parasites. He slowly but surely transformed into the handsome fella we knew he was and the entire time he was always happy and sweet.  Linus learned how to be an indoor dog in his foster home, living his new life in a beachfront condo. A far cry from a homeless dog in Columbus Co! 🙏🏻
His foster Mom took him on daily beach walks and he fell into a routine while feeling a little better each day.
When it was time for our sweet fella to find his forever home, his foster Mom announced that Linus was already HOME.
We made it official this week and Linus will never be homeless or hungry again.
It's dogs like Linus who need us the most. Hounds are one of the most neglected and abused dogs in the South. They are such gentle, sweet souls. We must all do our part to to help those who endure the most suffering. If we don't help them, who will?
Congrats Linus for being one of the lucky ones and finding your happily ever after. 👏 Thank you Jeanne for stepping up to foster a dog many would shy away from. The world needs more people like you.
Have a wonderful life Linus and family!
