Happy Gotcha day Almond aka Myrtle!
Her former owner had surrendered her to a shelter with her vet records which said Myrtle. The volunteers had named her Almond. And she came to Myrtle beach to start her new life!
This girl came close to being one of the unlucky ones. A shelter friend sent me a message about her after her rescue had fallen thru and several dogs had just been killed.
Luckily we got several foster apps for her and Marlena Ryba went to her rescue. (See freedom pics)
She settled into a wonderful foster home and after she finished her vetting and was about to be made available, her foster family decided to adopt! This sweet girl is now living her best life. No more fear or uncertainty. thanks Jennifer Morgan Gosney for fostering and adopting our precious girl.
This is why rescue matters!
Happy life sweet Myrtle!

Happy Gotcha Day Mitzi Moo!
Mitzi joined us last month after a friend of our director asked her about a neighbors dog who needed to be rehomed. They were elderly and going into assisted living soon. We found a place for the special girl and she flourished in her new environment.
One of our former adopters had recently lost her former PLP dog, Lucy. Lucy was adopted as a senior over two years ago and sadly she passed a month ago. rip sweet lucy!
Mitzi instantly gravitated to Jenni and it was love at first sight!
Adopting a new dog doesn't replace the one lost but it sure helps mend a broken heart.
We are so happy for you both! Have a wonderful life together.
Happy life together Jenni and Mitzi! Thank you Carole for fostering. :)
Happy Gotcha Day to Mr Murphy!!
Murphy came to us in June after his family had split up. He was spending long days crated and alone and his dad asked if we could take him. He was just a puppy and needed to run and play and have fun so we found a foster home where he could do just that! (with 3 other labs)
Murphy's new mom was looking for a doggy companion and he was just what she was looking for!
Congratulations Tawnya and Murphy!! Have a wonderful life together. We hope to gets lots of updates!
Thanks Missy and Alex!!
In May we were asked to help a grey faced hound who was in a nearby shelter. He had been there for several weeks and was a shelter favorite. His name was Maurice.
We really wanted to help this sweet, dapper, gentleman. Someone had applied to adopt a dog from us but we weren't sure about the dog and cats so we suggested fostering. She accepted and Maurice joined his foster mom, Amanda.
Maurice was not accustomed to living indoors we soon discovered. He became very upset, busted out of crates, peed on the furniture and would bark nonstop. He wanted to see his new "mama" at all times and didn't like to be left alone. We tried different crates, cbd, doggy daycare, and belly bands. lol He was definitely a challenge.
With love, time and patience, our stressed out boy soon realized his foster mom was going to come home to him. He went out and about with her and even learned the stairs! You can definitely teach an old dog new tricks!
When it was time for him to be adopted we thought someone had chosen him but things never got worked out.
One morning we woke up to an adoption application from his foster mom!
Maurice, the dapper sugar face loves his Mama. He was HOME all along.
Have a wonderful life Amanda and Maurice. Thank you for fostering and adopting!
This is why rescue matters.
Happy Adoption Day to sweet little Mango!!
Mango joined PLP us last month. She had been picked up as a stray in Georgia and went to a rural shelter. A rescue took her but she is very little and the foster usually takes in big dogs. She could fit thru the fence and they were worried she would escape so asked if we would take her.
We had her spayed and a dental and she was ready to find a family. We were shocked we didn't get more applications for the tiny girl but this lucky family hit the jackpot! Mango is the sweetest little girl who likes to be held and be next to her person all the time.
Mango will soon hit the road with her new family on a 6 week RV trip. How fun! 24/7 with her new family, just like she wanted!
Thanks Megan and Amber for your help with her.
Happy Life Mango! We love you!
