Marley

Congratulations to our sweet, Marley who has found her forever home!!
Marley came to us mid-March when we had a foster step up the morning Marley was to be euthanized in a North Carolina shelter.
I was worried that it was going to be too late when I tried reaching the shelter but luckily, she was still alive. We sent someone to spring her right away.
Marley was a joy from day one. She loved being outside and enjoying the sunshine after sitting in a shelter run for many weeks.
She became best buddies with PLP alumni Reeses.
We were thrilled when we received an application for Marley. She mentioned she usually liked smaller dogs, but something about Marley really drew her to her.
Marley Mable has been settling into her new home and they love her very much.
Marley came to visit her foster family over the weekend, and they were all thrilled to see her.
Thank you, Amanda and husband, for adopting and not shopping!
And special thanks to Lauri!  Without the  offer to foster,  Marley would be a statistic.
Have a wonderful life, Marley!! We hope to follow your journey and wish you the best new life!

Mick

On a Sunday morning the first part of January, someone saw a dog walking down a very busy road in North Myrtle Beach and picked him up.  The finder was heading to a property as he was a real estate agent but didn't know what to do with the hungry, thirsty Hound. All shelters were closed. He posted on a local page, and someone tagged me. I honestly did not think there was anything we could do. The odds of a foster stepping up at that time were slim.
Someone offered who was about an hour away and the finder drove the sweet boy to her!  If no one had stepped up to help, the dog would have most likely been let loose to fend for himself. The shelters are over capacity.
I tried to find out if the dog had an owner and was told hunting season was over, so the "owner" didn't want the dog anymore. We couldn't confirm this, but "Mick" did not have a chip, and no one claimed him during the next week as we searched for an owner.
The following day we had terrible storms, winds, and downpours. Schools and businesses were closed. I can't imagine this poor soul being out there. So thankful for the people who went out of their way to help him. After the stray hold was up, he joined PLP officially and began his journey to a new, happy, healthy life.
Mick was treated for a tickborne illness during the next month and settled in surprisingly well for a discarded hound. He learned leash, crate and house manners and we all fell in love with him.
Hounds are typically overlooked and not easily adopted. They can be a misunderstood breed with their intelligence and aloof demeaner.
Well, yesterday, Mick found his person!!! We are over the moon!
Tears of joy as I realized Mick and Pam belong together. He is HOME!!!
Pam had recently lost two seniors and Mick is a PERFECT fit!
Congratulations to our sweet boy. Our hearts are so full.
Without someone stepping up to foster, none of this would have happened! So thank you so much Ann-Dee for all you have done for Mick! You are his savior!
Thank you, Pam! You are an amazing human for giving a discarded hound a new life.

Maxie

Congratulations to Maxie who has found his forever family!
Maxie came to us from a rural kill shelter after we saved him during his final hours in February.
He went to a temporary foster home near the shelter and we got him to a vet in the area to start treating his skin issues. A few weeks later and he had turned into a new dog. Amazing what good food, love, and vet care will do!
Maxie made his way to the beach, and it didn’t take long to finish his vetting and learn all about him.
Maxie joined his new family a few days ago and is settling in nicely. He has a new doggy sibling who he loves playing with and a big back yard.
We couldn’t be happier for the sweet, little guy! Thank you foster families and new parents!!!
Have a wonderful life, Maxie!!

Meyer

Congratulations to Meyer who has found his forever home with his foster dad!
Meyer and his brother, Oscar came to us a few months ago. They had not been to a vet in years; however, they didn't look like they needed much. Boy was I wrong!
Thousands of dollars later, they were finally ready for homes of their own. They were not bonded at all and because they were not ever neutered, (both cryptorchid-very expensive neuters-around $800 each normally) they were having some scuffles.
Meyer needed an extensive dental and he also had a mass removed which was about the size of a golf ball. He healed up nicely and was ready to find a family, but it took several weeks to get him posted.
During this time Meyer and his foster dad, Paul became best buds. Meyer runs errands with Paul, and they chill and spend lots of time together. He gets to snuggle with his dad at night which Dachshunds love!
Congrats Paul and Meyer!

Thank you Sophie for picking them up and holding them. (they were about to be taken to a shelter)
Adopt; don't shop! You really can find any breed in shelters and rescues if you have a little patience.🙏🏻

Max

Congratulations to Max for finding his forever family!
Max came to us about a month ago from a very rural North Carolina Shelter. He and two other dogs from the home entered the shelter after their home had burned down. His chi brother was adopted, and Max was all alone and his time was running out. He had been there for a month.
Last week Max was ready to find his family and I have to say, he hit the Doggy Lottery!! woohoo
Max joins his new mom and dad, and a female dog, named KayKay, who accepted him right away.
He has a beautiful home and a loving family, and we couldn't be happier for him.
From Rags to Riches!
This is why rescue matters, he had no interest while at this rural shelter..
Enjoy your new pampered life little man. We hope to get updates.
Thank you, Alyssa and family for adopting our sweet boy.
We Love you Max!
