Ollie

Happy Gotcha Day to the one and only Little Rascal himself, OLLIE!! (his second go around)
Ollie came to PLP last December when his owner could no longer care for him or his older brother from another mother. (Chewy) They were taken to the county shelter, and we scooped them up.
Ollie was fostered and adopted rather quickly but after a few months he had picked up some bad behaviors. His mom, a very sweet lady, was not able to give Ollie the life and strong leadership he needed to succeed so she surrendered him to a vet office. He came back to us, and we gave him plenty of time to settle in and work on his "typical bossy chi" behavior.
During this time, the other dog from his original home, Chewy was adopted. We asked Chewy's dad if he would foster Ollie as he had the time and the skills that we thought would be good for the little monster. (Cough sweet Ollie)
It wasn't love at first bite, but Ollie and Mike soon learned how to maneuver their relationship all the while really becoming attached to one another.
Today, Ollie joined his household permanently.  We also learned Chewy may have some health issues but hopefully love and resilience will prevail, and they will be together for a long time. 🙏🏻
Thank you, Mike for adopting Ollie and giving him what he needs to be the best version of himself.
Be good Ollie! Don't come back now, ya hear? 😅

Lady Anna

Happy Adoption Day to our senior, Lady Anna of the Inlet! 🍾🐾
Anna came into a local, rural shelter back in March. Her owner had gone into an assisted living facility and a relative had taken in Anna and her sister.
It seems the girls had not had vet care in a long time, nor been away from their only mom. When taken to the vet, Anna was scared and in pain because of several abscessed teeth and bit the tech.  She was soon taken to the shelter.
Anna was terrified and shaking in her kennel. The shelter called us, and we sprung her right away.
We gave Anna plenty of time to settle in, then took her for a dental and had the painful teeth removed.  She was soon healthy and happy!  It was no time before Lady Anna was chasing squirrels and demanding to be queen of her castle.
Someone read her story online and showed interest after several months of not a single inquiry. Miss Becky was drawn to Anna and mentioned her grandmother's name was also Anna.
Last week, Anna made the trip to North Carolina and has been settling in. We think it is a perfect match!
Have a wonderful new life, Anna.
Live out your golden years being the Queen you are!
Bless you Becky for opening your heart and home to a senior.
Thanks to everyone who transported, fostered, donated and helped in any way!

Carissa

Happy Gotcha Day, Sweet Carissa!
Carissa was about to be euthanized in a North Carolina shelter when Carissa's now family saw a post that we would save her but needed a foster home. They applied to foster, and we sprung her immediately!
Carissa is a fearful dog, and her foster home was the perfect place to decompress, rest, and heal.
She has come out of her shell a little more every day, especially with the help of her big sister, Bella who helps give her confidence. (Bella is also a rescue)
Carissa now loves being a couch potato, playing tug of war with Bella, and cuddling with her mom and dad. She even started going on car rides with her sister daily!
Big huge thanks to Connie and Darren for stepping up for one of a million pitties in high kill shelters. Sharing helped this sweet girl find her family!
Have a wonderful new life, Carissa! We are blessed to be part of your journey! We can't wait to see you become the dog you were meant to be!

Hercules

We have EXCITING NEWS!! Drumroll.........
Hercules has been ADOPTED!
Hercules came into a local shelter,  Saint Frances Animal Center, back in January. He was chipped and had been adopted from there nine years earlier! When his owner was contacted, the shelter was informed he was no longer wanted as there wasn't "time" for him.
I followed Hercules on the shelter page and noticed he had zero interest at adoption events, which broke my heart. He had lived his whole life with a family who just abandoned him.
I tried to find a foster home and at the end of April one of our amazing former foster families turned adopters stepped up! Thank you, John and Crystal!
For the last three months, this dapper gentleman has been nothing short of perfection! He loves lounging in the sun, going for walks, and watching Netflix with his family.
Well, everyone missed out on the BESTEST boy, because his foster family decided to make it official.
He is part of their family!!!
Hercules, you will never be abandoned again.
Thanks so much, John, Crystal and the dachshunds, Jake and Becks for welcoming this handsome senior into your home!
Have a wonderful life together! We are blessed to be a small part of your journey!❤️

Tigress

Back in January, I received a message asking if we could save Tigress from the shelter. She had been there over 60 days, and her time was coming to an end. She had kennel stress from lack of exercise and stimulation and her hair was falling out.
I said, "yes, let me see what we can do." We posted her until we approved a foster, and she made her way to the beach. Sadly, after two weeks, the foster threatened to drop her off at a shelter as she allegedly wasn't housebroken and had other "puppy" behavior that they did not like. Tigress went to the second foster home where she settled in, had rules, and finished her vetting.
We never thought this little 35lb pup would not be adopted right away. She is high energy but that makes her more adorable! And she loves to cuddle after a long day of playing and running.
Her foster family was going on vacation in June, and we begged and begged for a temp spot for those several weeks. Tigress was juggled around and even spent a week at Dog Boarding at the Beach, where she was so LOVED and treated like the princess she is. (Highly recommended)
At the end of her boarding stay we finally had some interest in our sweet girl, and we think she was just holding out for the perfect home!
Tigress joined her forever family after a brief "trial foster" last week and she has already adjusted so well! She has a labradoodle sister with the same energy, a big, fenced yard, and lots of family members to make sure she gets the exercise, stimulation and all the cuddles she deserves. She lives a block from the beach and is enjoying her evening walks. She has definitely made herself part of the family.
Congrats Tigress and Sparkes family!!  Thank you so much for adopting our sweet girl! You are angels and such a blessing.
Thank you so much to your foster family, temps and transporters for helping Tigress along this six month journey!
Have a great life Tigress! We can't wait to see lots of updates.
Never look back and enjoy that beach life!
