Petunia

Back in February I was scrolling thru a weekly email from the county shelter when I saw a beautiful Staffordshire terrier mix who was on the "list". I remember thinking how beautiful she was and thought surely someone would  pull her. The following week she was still on the list and her time was up the next morning. She would be put down if a rescue did not pull her. Someone stepped up to foster her for a week and we would search for someone to take over after that, who we soon found.
Our girl left the shelter, we named her Petunia (she was just a number at the shelter) and she settled into her temporary home. We soon discovered Miss Petunia was pretty damn perfect.   She finished her heartworm treatment, spay and vetting and her new foster mom told us she was the sweetest dog she had ever fostered.
Petunia had lots interest which made us very happy.
Staffordshire terriers are such loyal, loving dogs and Petunia is such a testament to that. She is what we call a "Velcro dog" meaning she wants to be next to her person at all times.
We knew when we met the Vinson family that Petunia belonged to them. (Their daughter adopted Earnest a few months ago!)  They came up from North Carolina to meet her and they also have a beach house here.  Her new mom is home all the time and she can go to work with her new Dad as well which is pretty awesome.
Petunia is now Emma and she spent her first night sleeping in bed between her new parents!
This is why rescue matters. This is the story of a perfect dog who ended up on the euthanasia list in an overcrowded shelter with little chance of getting out unless a rescue stepped up. This is the sad reality of many shelter dogs; luckily our girl wasn’t a statistic.
Have a wonderful life Petunia, now Emma! ❤ï¸Ââ¤ï¸Â We are over the moon for you!
Thank you so very much Vinson family for adopting and not shopping and seeing something so special in our girl.
Thank you Penny and Kandi for fostering!! You are her angels!
Adopt don’t shop!

Piper

What’s the best thing you can do while being stuck at home for a few weeks??
Adopt a new family member of course!!
Congrats to Piper who has found her forever family!
Piper came to us mid January when we received a video of her in a North Carolina kill shelter. Her time was up and she was scheduled to be euthanized the next day. A volunteer drove to North Carolina and brought her and two other dogs back with the same fate. (Both of those pups have been adopted. :))
Piper has made great progress in her foster home and has flourished into a perfect dog!!
Today her new family drove from North Carolina to meet our sweet girl and take her HOME!
Thank you Gottfried family for adopting and not shopping! Piper is a lucky girl!
Thank you Teri for transporting and fostering Piper. You were her angel!
Have a great life Piper and family!

Pixie

Drum roll please!!! 👏
We are thrilled to announce that little miss Pixie stick has finally been adopted! 👏
Last March we were contacted about a little scared dog who had been brought into a Winston-Salem shelter after being found tied to a tree at a dog park. 😞 She could not be put up for adoption because she was very scared of strangers and also heartworm positive. A volunteer drove up to get her, we treated her heartworms, updated her vetting and she settled into her foster home. Soon she was ready to find her forever home and we started getting applications for her. We approved 5 different apps over the next 9 months but no one would give her the chance she needed to warm up and trust them. 😞 We didn’t get our hopes up when the next one came in but it turned out to be the one we had waited on all along! ❤️
Congrats Blackburn family and little Pixie! Thank you so much for giving her the chance she deserved! Pixie is settling into her home and learning to trust. As you can see, she  and her new mom are already best buds. ❤️
Have a wonderful life together! Thank you Renee for fostering Pixie and never giving up on her! ❤️ Adopt; don’t shop!

Princess Leah

Happy gotcha day to Princess Leah!
Have a wonderful life with your new mom!
Thank you Beverly for adopting!
Princess Leah came to us after being given away on a free site. We updated her vetting and she was a huge hit at our adoption event last weekend.
Thank you Scott family for fostering this sweet girl!

Paisley

“I love my foster mommy, I love my neighbor & I love my house so I unpacked & decided to stay!” Love Paisley ❤️
Congratulations to our sweet girl Paisley! Once neglected, unkept and unvetted, this girls’ life changed when she joined us and her angel foster Mom, Kim.
After a meet and greet that didn’t work out Kim decided to adopt this sweet girl herself. 🙂 Woohoo! Have a great life Paisley and new family! Thank you Kim!!! ❤️
